Homeschool Info
I have a preschooler that has ADD & I would like any information on How To Homeschool

or any tips. I want to homeschool for other reasons but I'm not exactly sure how to go about about the challenges of teaching my very distracted child to read & such, especially during the Kindergarten years. Any info or anything would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Most of kindergarten learning requirements can be learned while going about your everyday life. Read books together, even if just for a few minutes. Watch Sesame Street. Count and sort things while putting them away (all the red cars here, all the blue cars there, how many green cars are there?), do sorting and matching and talking about size and color while doing laundry, and about fractions (halves, thirds, quarters) while folding the towels or cutting an apple or sandwich for snack. Use the playdoh or the fingerpaints (shaving cream or chocolate pudding on a slick countertop works wonderfully well!) to make letters and numbers. Every now and then introduce a worksheet (from a Pre-K or K huge workbook from WalMart, or printed off the internet) that covers something you've already discussed. Color, cut, and paste projects are great (with kindergarten rounded scissors). Learn a letter a week and talk about the sound it makes not just the name of it. Take a nature walk in the neighborhood and talk about what you see. Grow some seeds in a plastic cup. Read, Read, Read, go to the library. If he really is ADD (and he may not be!), don't expect anything to hold his attention for really long periods, but make the most of anything he's interested in. Use games to discuss concepts. Meet him "where he is".

Look up the World Book encyclopedia "Typical Course of Study" and see what kindergarteners usually learn. Or check at www.Homeschooling.about.com where this is listed, with links to internet resources.
